REPAIR

ARTIST'S

PRINT

This â€‹screen print required localised repair due to an impact damage, the force of  which had caused the paper to become depressed and damaged at this specific point.

Working locally from the verso and recto of the print in turn, using a little moisture to soften the paper, the area of damage was able to be gently worked to restore the flat plane of the paper and close the hole caused by impact. Wheat starch paste was used to consolidate the area and Japanese tissue applied to the reverse to support the weak area.

Using this technique, the area of damage was able to be repaired and supported and the overall visual impact of the damage significantly reduced.
