LINING AND REPAIR

ARTIST'S PRINT

The first stage of treatment for this print required the detached fragments to be laid out and their original location re-discovered.

When it was clear where all pieces would fit, the paper was lightly surface cleaned and both fragments and print were lightly humidified to relax the paper.

These were then consolidated back together from the verso using a lining of japanese tissue and wheat starch paste.

As the work had been executed on very smooth modern paper the damage had also resulted in some flaking and loss of media. This was able to be consolidated using a conservation consolidation medium and any remaining areas of loss infilled and toned.
